The Sorcerer of WIZ cover

The Sorcerer of WIZ is a remarkable and captivating update of the beloved Wizard of Oz. This engaging adventure story written mainly for six- to twelve-year-olds couples a fascinating tale with character-building life lessons.

Eleven-year-old Sofia is swept away by a tornado and crashes into a much-reviled Empress of Offensiveness. This is the starting point for an exciting and courageous search for the world's most mysterious and feared businessman: the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer recasts the Wizard of Oz's scarecrow, tin man and lion as a modern-day trio who teach us much about contemporary America.

A discussion guide at the close of the book turns each chapter into an opportunity for parents, grandparents, teachers and mentors to talk to children about issues and topics important to all of us.
